mangosteen

When Emma’s sisters were here last week, her sister Sarah mentioned a strange fruit I’d never heard of – the mangosteen (and no, it’s not a Jewish mango). It sounded very odd when she described it – here’s a picture. Hopefully she’ll leave a comment describing taste, aroma etc.

  1. Sarah says:

It is sort of like a lychee in texture and flavour with a big stone in each segment. There is a hint of grape about it as well. It certainly doesn’t taste of brains whatever Rosey says about it.

  2. Rosey says:

All I said was that it looked like brains and tasted nasty. I can safely say that I do not know what brains taste like and would prefer never to know.

  3. Emma says:

I’m glad you clarified that for us, Rosey.

Was it Dad who used to drive trays of brains round in the back of a butchers van? I wonder if he can tell us how they taste? I suspect that they are no longer legal food.
