The weekend was busy with the move. I was up till almost midnight Friday, getting the packing finished (memo to self: do not leave 96% of packing till the night before you move) and up early to pick up the moving van and get things organized. Despite my stressing the move went really well, only one inexpensive piece of furniture got broken and we were done within an amazing three hours. Which was a good thing as the temperature was in the 90s. But we’re in and our things are looking nice in our new place. It was a big confidence boost when we all turned up to the house and the people helping the move started enthusing about the house, it helped me to know that we’re doing the right thing here.

The rest of Saturday and most of Sunday were spent buying and installing house things. Got some really nice blinds for our bedroom on Sunday so at least one room in the house now is feeling like a haven. Hopefully this evening I can finish painting the last wall of the entrance room so that we can have our furniture all sorted in that and the living room. I’m trying to remember that I can’t do everything at once and it’s OK that it might be a couple more days till we get the kitchen sorted out too, but we’ll be done quite soon I’m sure. So far being a homeowner is feeling like a lot of work, but quite worthwhile.

Kind of exhausted today. Work is very good but very busy – lots of strategy meetings yesterday which went really well but were quite brain-intensive. Then in the evening Emma and I decided to start packing, as we’re moving tomorrow. I can’t believe how much stuff we have. We did plenty of auditing of clothes and papers so there’s about 15% less than before which is good. Hopefully we’ll have everything together – the goal is to move at least all the big stuff tomorrow as we have the apartment till the end of September. It feels strange to be moving after two years, we’ve really enjoyed where we’ve been living.

So sleep was kind of elusive with everything going around in my head. The weather didn’t help – big exciting storms most of the night. And it’s forecast to be hot and humid while we’re hauling stuff around tomorrow, which promises to make me and my helpers very pleasant to be around.
