wwud?

This made me smile – flash version of the unicorn spin-wheel (from boingboing). I’m passing it on to you in case you’re wondering what a unicorn would do.

gummy worms

I was just checking my blog stats, and noticed a huge number of hits coming from tmlfans.ca – a fan site for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Specifically the hits were coming from this post forum where someone had, for a joke, included a link to someone well known to frequent visitors to andrew.mogendorff.com. It’s a little strange to be sure, but no harm done I think.

cousins

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

Two of my cousins in the UK, Tom and Charlie, also keep weblogs, and I thought you might like to see them (the blogs). Here’s Tom’s and here’s Charlie’s. Maybe they’ll add me under their “friends and family” links.

Some excellent pictures of Britain from the Guardian – enough to make me homesick.

very cute

I feel like a bit of a big girl posting a link to these pictures of tiger cubs and orang-utan babies but I’m sure you’ll agree it takes a real man to link to cuteness.

A few weeks ago in my Superbowl write-up I slightly guiltily used the word “meh”. Today I saw a post in Slate describing the correct use of meh and other interjections when writing for the web. Fantastic use of a Simpsons quote too.

bird flu comedy

Thursday, February 8th, 2007

Actually it’s mostly the headline where the comedy lies.

From Reuters.com: “Turkey confirms return of bird flu in chickens”. Sounds like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck arguing over duck season/rabbit season – the turkeys are saying “no, no bird flu here – it’s the chickens. All about the chickens. If there’s culling to do, check out those chickens.”

useless account

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

I’m sure you have lots of online accounts with various people – your bank, Amazon, email providers, bill paying services, bulletin boards etc etc. But do you have a plain old useless account? Try it – it’s completely useless!

blogger import to wordpress

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007

You may remember through the hazy mists of time that this blog wasn’t always on WordPress – I used to use Blogger but gave up due to “New” Blogger’s non-support of blogs hosted on non-Google servers. When I got WordPress up and running, importing my Blogger blog was quite a chore. Today I saw that an import tool for New Blogger has been released – I’m sure it’s considerably easier than what I went through (it was fun though).

mlk

In a rather progressive move, my company has from this year onwards stated that Martin Luther King day is a company-wide holiday. There’s a lot of stuff in the media about race relations (including a very interesting interview on Public Radio right now), and we’ve been talking a lot with Toby about this – he’s also got classes all week at daycare about differences and being friends.

Google have a great logo for the day – you can click on it to run a search on Martin Luther King Jr:
